Glass Sidelight Placement on Door Unit
You can build your unit with any of the following sidelight and transom configurations:
- Right Sidelight only
- Left Sidelight only
- Transom Light only
- Double Sidelight (left and right)
- Left Sidelight with Transom
- Right Sidelight with Transom
- Double Sidelight with Transom
Sidelight placement is always specified from the exterior view. For example, to add a 12" sidelight on the right side as you face the door from outside, enter 12" in the Right Sidelight field below. To build a double sidelight unit, enter a width under both the Left and Right Sidelight fields — the two sidelights do not need to be the same size.
Net Sidelight Size
The size you enter is the net jamb size — the actual finished frame width. Your rough opening should be at least 1/2" larger than the net size on each side to allow room to square and level the unit during installation.
Example: A 48" × 98" door paired with an 18" × 98" sidelight gives you a finished combo of 66" × 98". The rough opening should be approximately 66 1/2" × 98 1/2".
